The Caravan consisting of 23 assorted RVs including the Wagonmaster and Tailgunner arrived in at the campground early in the afternoon of Thursday, March 22nd. In the evening we had a margarita and Mexican Fiesta. Our wagonmasters, Terry and Barry, are quite cognizant of the food problems of different folks and certainly went out of their way to accommodate them.
Friday morning, March 23rd, we were on the bus early for a city tour of St. Augustine. We saw the gates of the city with the lions guarding it,
the Fountain of Youth including having a drink of water from it, the oldest wooden school house in America,
the Castillo De San Marcos masonry fortification
and a magnificent church that was built by a gentleman in memory of his daughter who died at childbirth.
The same gentleman had a house built which the architect put in American Standard fixtures but had to replace them all because the gentleman owned Moen!!
Whilst in St. Augustine some of us walked a very long two blocks to have a delicious lunch at the Columbia Restaurant which is one of 7 owned by the Gonzmart family. We had previously been to their restaurants in St. Armand’s Circle near Siesta Key and the original in Ybor City near Tampa.
